WCSO CERT receives the Quality Public Service Award

Every year, Washoe County awards different agencies or organizations for their contribution to the community. Those awards include the Integrity Award, Effective Communication Award, Quality Public Safety Award and the Manager's Award For Commitment to Excellence.

On November 16, 2021, the WCSO CERT team received the Washoe County Quality Public Safety Award for our volunteer work we provided during the COVID-19 pandemic in Washoe County.

From March 20, 2020 through August 31, 2021, we provided over 15,000 volunteer hours saving Washoe County taxpayers over $355;453. Over 80 CERT members assisted with screening and temperature checks at WCSO and the REOC (Regional Emergency Operations Center), assisted with COVID 19 testing at the WCHD and later provided assistance at the Reno Sparks Livestock Event Center where the WCHD provided both COVID-19 screenings and vaccines. We also also provided assistance at other various COVID-19 test sites in the Washoe County area.
